Cosmetic Enhancement

As people continue to live longer, healthier lives more and more people are looking towards a physician to help them achieve a more youthful, beautiful appearance.  As people age, their faces lose contour and fullness, giving their skin deep lines and a sunken appearance. Traditionally, these signs of aging have been combated with a face-lift, surgically tightening the skin.  However, with Botox leading the way, a number of minimally invasive procedures have become the answer for people looking for a more youthful appearance without the risk, recovery time, and expense of major surgery.  We all need help in slowing the clock, even in our 20s and 30s.

People are finding it hard to resist the siren call of these quick and relatively painless procedures.  Cosmetic enhancements can reduce the lines, wrinkles, and facial gauntness that come with the aging process as well as provide added augmentation or correction to an area, lips for example, you may be dissatisfied about.  The Franco Formula approach to beauty is to be brutally honest.  If a patient smokes and drinks too much, no amount of Botox or Fillers will improve their skin’s appearance as much as ditching their bad habits will.  Many patients approach their doctor with one problem in mind (a wrinkle, sagging skin), but leave with a more complete plan of attack. Dr. Franco’s thorough comprehensive medical approach to beauty is founded first and foremost in good health.

Botox

Botox has become the buzzword for the anti-aging revolution.

Botox treats dynamic facial wrinkles temporarily.  Dynamic wrinkles are caused by contractions of the delicate underlying facial muscles every time you smile, laugh or frown. The more emotion you show, the deeper these wrinkles and lines are likely to be. While you may have earned every one of your worry lines, you don't have to show them anymore.  Dr. Franco also is exceedingly skilled at attacking wrinkles with Botox.

Botox is injected into the wrinkle where it works to relax the facial muscle which smoothes the line.  A number of people are having Botox injections to regain a more youthful appearance. In fact, some people are even hosting Botox parties, where several women and men (yes, we said men) gather together for cocktails and wrinkle-banishing injections.  However, Botox should only be used to treat wrinkles and lines around the eyes and forehead.

Anyone who looks in the mirror can see that expression and aging lines occur in areas that cannot be treated by Botox.  Soft-tissue fillers can help fill in these lines and creases, temporarily restoring a smoother, more youthful-looking appearance. When injected beneath the skin, these fillers plump up creased and sunken areas of the face. They can also add fullness to the lips and cheeks.  Injectable fillers come in a myriad of forms; each having a different method of correcting facial contour loss.  Although the choice of which filler to use may seem confusing, different fillers are preferred for different areas, purposes, and people and Dr. Franco will help you understand which is best for you.

Juvederm/Expressions

Juvederm/Expressions is an alternative type of filler.  Its main component, hyaluronic acid, is a polysaccharide also found in the skin matrix of mammals.  Hyaluronic acid attracts water to itself within the skin, plumping up depressed areas or lines with the body’s own moisture.  The body will reabsorb a hyluronan gel product over time, as well.

Radiesse

Radiance is one of the longer lasting dermal fillers on the market.  It is made from a synthetic calcium particle suspended very densely in a gel solution and should last longer than either collagen or hyluronan gel.  Radiance will provide fullness in areas that are depressed or deeply lined but may feel gritty in sensitive areas, such as lips.  Like the dermal fillers mentioned above the calcium of Radiance will be reabsorbed into the body with time.

Sculptra

Sculptra is a filler that takes a completely different approach to restoring youthful contours to the face.  Other fillers replace depleted facial fat with an alternate substance.  Sculptra, comprised of a synthetic material called poly-L-lactic acid, actually promotes the formation of new collagen to fill any facial depressions.  Your own collagen, produced as a result of the Sculptra, will eventually diminish naturally over time.
