Botox

Botox is a simple, non-surgical procedure that smoothes the deep, persistent lines between your brows, on your forehead, and around your eyes that develop over time. One ten-minute treatment relaxes the muscles that cause those lines to form and keeps them relaxed up to four months. Botox has been widely tested, and is approved by the FDA.

The results are dramatic and apparent within days. In clinical trials, nearly 90% of the men and women surveyed rated the improvement in their brow lines as moderate to better. For many, Botox virtually erases these lines.

Unlike surgery, Botox is fast, simple and minimally invasive and does not require a long recovery process. Most people return directly to work or their normal daily activity immediately following the treatment.  Botox may take up to fourteen days to take effect, however most patients report marked improvement within days.  The end result is a face that looks more smooth, natural, and relaxed.

If doing all you can to look your best is important to you, Botox may be for you.

What is Botox?

Botox Cosmetic is a natural, purified protein produced by the Clostridium botulinum bacterium. Very low doses of Botox are administered via a few tiny injections directly into the overactive muscles that cause lines to form. The effects of Botox are usually confined to the injected region; it does not travel throughout the body.  Botox works by blocking the transmission of nerve impulses to the injected muscles and causing them to relax, smoothing out lines and wrinkles.

Dr. Franco also prefers to use Botox on lines and wrinkles around the eyes and forehead rather than collagen.  It is most effective when used to smooth out worry lines on the forehead, the glabella fold (the line between the eyebrows commonly called the frown line), the periorbital lines (commonly called crows feet).  It can also open up a patient’s eyes by lifting the eyebrows non-surgically.

What To Expect

Dr Franco is specially trained to inject Botox.  In addition, Dr. Franco is recommended by Allergen, the makers of Botox, as a preferred provider.  Dr. Franco, not a nurse or physician’s assistant, performs all injections.  Dr. Franco will meet with you during a complimentary consultation to determine which areas can be treated with Botox.  The procedure can be performed immediately following a consultation or scheduled for another day.

During the procedure Dr. Franco determines exactly where to administer several tiny injections to achieve the best results. No anesthesia is required, although an anesthetic cream is usually applied prior to injecting to minimize a patient’s discomfort. The entire procedure takes approximately ten minutes. Discomfort is minimal and brief; most patients compare the sensation to that of a bug bite.

Within days, you’ll see a distinct difference which may continue to improve for as long as a week and should last up to three or four months.

It is unlikely you will develop any significant side effects, although a few people develop slight temporary bruising at the injection site, which is easily covered by makeup. These effects should typically resolve themselves within two or three days.  Also, you may resume normal activity immediately following a procedure.
